The Connection Studio Origin Story
The spark behind the Connection Studio began with two birds.
Years ago, at a time when I was struggling to bring my vision for Mother’s Quest to life, two birds got trapped in my house. One flew out immediately when I opened the door. The second stayed, until I opened the door again and it slowly walked out, as if waiting for me to understand: I couldn’t wait for someone else to open a door for me, I had to open it myself.
That day, I committed to launching Mother’s Quest as a 45th birthday gift to myself. That one decision set off a ripple effect: an award-winning podcast, signature coaching programs, and a transformation for my sister, founder of Democracy Clothing, who, after an interview on the podcast and an invitation to join me at Sybrina Fulton’s Circle of Mothers retreat, saw her work and leadership in a new light. Soon after, she invited me into what became a five-plus-year coaching and consulting collaboration to help grow the brand’s mission, impact, and her thought leadership. That powerful experience informed my new vision to bring this work to more changemaking women.
Opening doors, for ourselves and one another, is at the heart of what the Connection Studio is all about.
